Telenet Group Holding, a Belgian media and telecommunications company, has paid €170m to local cable operators to lease their networks for 38 years. The company will also pay the local cable companies an annual fee for operational charges.

The deal will acquire 800,000 television customers in Belgium’s Flanders region, an additional revenue source of €90m, and a core profit of €40m to €45m.

Subject to the approval of Telenet’s board, and the boards of the local cable companies, it is expected that the agreement will be implemented in 2016.
